Human health and the environment

Good health and well-being require a clean and harmonious environment in which physical, physiological, social and aesthetic factors are all given their due importance. The environment should be regarded as a resource for improving living conditions and increasing well-being.
WHO

Environmental pollution has a negative impact on human health. This has been proved by research around the world. According to the WHO, public health is:

• between 50 and 60 percent dependent on the level of socioeconomic development;

• between 20 and 30 percent dependent on the impact of environmental factors; and

• just 15 to 20 percent dependent on the development of the health care system.
